In the ways that matter to me, Super Meat Boy 3D is a great adaptation of the original. The story remains intact as the mostly minimalist satire on Mario that it always was. The evil Dr. Fetus has once again kidnapped Bandage Girl, and it’s your job to save her by dodging a whole lot of buzzsaws.

GRIME II is another entry into the Metroidvania genre hoping to stand out from the many currently flooding the industry, and in some ways, it does just that.

A game like Screamer gets me intensely excited for a couple of reasons, ironically neither of which has anything to do with the original Screamer games from the 90s, which I never played and had never even heard of prior to giving this modern reimagining a spin. Don’t hate me; hate my youth.

Most other reviews you see of Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War will probably be focused on the Starship Troopers property itself and how much fans of both it and first-person boomer shooters will get on with this indie entry. That's not how this review is going to go, fair warning, and for some of you, that might be a good thing.

There seems to be a simulator for just about everything these days. You can mow the lawn, power wash a house, run a food truck, or maybe even own your very own gas station. But Docked has us working in what is notoriously a dangerous field where we operate heavy machinery and move massive cargo containers from location to location.

Much like the first game, Planet of Lana 2 is a puzzle platformer, with a bit more emphasis on the puzzle side of that. The 2.5D side scroller has a plethora of different environmental puzzles to solve to progress through the story. There are a few similar puzzles from the first game; some require you to use Mui to take out cameras or androids or need you to run away from attacking robots or animals.

Scott Pilgrim EX, or EX, like ex-girlfriend (I guess that makes sense), is once again an arcade-style beat 'em up that blends elements of River City Ransom. It has features such as the ability to shop, explore an open city at your own leisure with set goals to follow, and even hosts light role-playing game elements.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, which probably explains why 3D platforming with my bad depth perception makes me feel CRAZY, so color me surprised when I find myself bouncing, gliding, and climbing around the world of Demon Tides with a smile on my face.

The Nickelodeon Splat Pack collects three 16‑bit era games into one very strange package. It features not‑so‑classics like AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, Rocko’s Modern Life: Spunky’s Dangerous Day, and GUTS.

Let me start by saying that if you were expecting Lovish to be more of Astalon: Tears of the Earth, you’ll be very disappointed. This is a very basic NES-style action game through and through, putting players in control of a young knight named Sir Solomon, who is completely enamored by young princess Tsuna, who has of course been captured by evil forces, completing the classic trope of a knight needing to rescue the damsel in distress.

Cairn’s journey puts you in the shoes… or rather… bandaged bare feet?... of Aava, a famous mountain climber embarking on her biggest challenge yet – ascension of the notoriously treacherous Mount Kami.

MIO: Memories in Orbit is a visually jaw-dropping Metroidvania where you play as a tiny robot named—what else—but MIO, who is tasked with exploring a massive spaceship known as The Vessel. Not all is well aboard the Vessel, as it has been overrun by evil robots, and it's up to you to not only defeat these dastardly foes!

Skate Story finds itself in an odd position where watching a trailer for it can be a captivating experience in its own right, but doesn't tell you much about what the game is. And that's not an easy question to answer, either. Skate Story could ostensibly be viewed as a distillation of skating games like Tony Hawk or Skate through the flashy, presentation-focused lens of something like Tetris Effect or Lumines Arise.

Taking place entirely on a Lunar Base, ROUTINE does an incredible job of creating a tense atmosphere. Players will thirst for answers about why this place has become what we see today. Moody flickering lights, destroyed halls, and a once-thriving, now decrepit mall are just a few of the many details that draw you into the experience. It’s absolutely gorgeous, further brought to life by an incredible soundscape that simply must be experienced with surround sound.

When I first laid my eyes on Constance, a 2D Metroidvania game developed by btf, my first thoughts were, “My God, this game is gorgeous.” Its painterly style jumps off the screen with vibrant colors and stunning animations that remind me of cartoon series such as Over the Garden Wall, Adventure Time, and even Gravity Falls.

Demonschool is a tactical RPG centering around young demon hunter Faye, who is eager to begin her education at a university on the mysterious Hemsk Island. Ok, so she’s actually less enthusiastic about the education part and more enthusiastic about potential run-ins with demons.

Bounty Star makes a terrible first impression. Its awkward character portrait art and animations are immediately apparent, alongside poor voice acting performances and dialogue that seems to have a strange fascination with not only its lead character’s buttcrack, but asses in general.
