Mouse: PI for Hire places you in the shoes of Jack Pepper, not only the game's gruff, hard-boiled detective fantastically brought to life by renowned voice actor Troy Baker, but just one of many, MANY cheese-themed jokes the game has to offer.

Most other reviews you see of Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War will probably be focused on the Starship Troopers property itself and how much fans of both it and first-person boomer shooters will get on with this indie entry. That's not how this review is going to go, fair warning, and for some of you, that might be a good thing.

I am thrilled to report that Mouse: P.I. For Hire is so much more than a pretty face and yet can’t help but gush about the presentation first anyway. The characters are the stars of the show, moving with such an authentically wobbly, wavy bounce that you hardly even want to stop looking at them to shoot them.

Perhaps just a bit overshadowed by its many competitors was Blood, a viciously violent first‑person shooter developed by Monolith Productions, powered by the Build Engine, and published by GT Interactive.

Even in the endlessly varied indie space, you don’t see a lot of first-person shooters like Metal Eden.

In comes Abyssus, a roguelite shooter aiming to combine a unique brinepunk setting evoking hints of Bioshock with the fast-paced baddie-murdering gameplay of modern Doom and the ability to play with your friends.
